Hainsworth begin weaving premium woollen cloth in Yorkshire.

Hainsworth enter the Cue Sports arena

The cloth of the World Championships

Hainsworth provide snooker cloth for the World Championships.

1980

Prime time spotlight on Cue Sports

Cue Sports experience a big boost with prime time TV shows featuring the sport and its players.

1989

Hainsworth begin to sell snooker cloth into the Chinese Market

1990

The pioneers of printed Cue Sports cloth

Hainsworth launch the first ever printed pool and snooker cloths into the Cue Sports market. 1990 also marks the year where Hainsworth purchased Rileys.

2002

Hainsworth launch Elite Pro & Smart

Hainsworth lunched two of our iconic cloths; Elite Pro and Smart. Elite Pro is a high quality American pool cloth, renowned for its super smooth, super fast playing surface. Whereas, Smart is known as the performance cloth that delivers big on value and longevity.

2009

Hainsworth launch Precision

Hainsworth launch Precision the fastest woollen cloth on the market; also known as the ultimate players challenge!

2010

Hainsworth purchase Northern Rubber

Hainsworth purchase the leading cushion rubber manufacturer Northern Rubber. With an extensive history, dating back to the original vulcanisation/curing process, Northern Rubber cushions have provided an outstanding quality which players and professionals alike, have chosen for over a hundred and fifty years.

2011

Hainsworth debuts first-ever branded cloth for televised tournament

Hainsworth provided the first ever branded (printed) cloth for a televised tournament. In addition to this, Hainsworth also launched a dedicated brand in China Ying Fang Bau Zhi.

2013

Hainsworth sponsor teachers at the Ding Junhui Snooker Academy

Hainsworth sponsored the teachers at the Ding Junhui snooker academy in Shanghai. Furthermore, Hainsworth also relaunched the historic brand as ‘Hainsworth TopTable’.

2017

Hainsworth named as the official cloth of the World Games

2022

Precision Cloth used at National Close Snooker Championships 2022

In March 2022, the 31st National Close Snooker Championships took place at the High End Club, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hainsworth were proud to sponsor the event, providing Precision bed cloths for the championship tables.

2023

The Princess of Wales visits AW Hainsworth

We had the honour of welcoming Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales for a visit to the Hainsworth mill. The Princess met with team members from Carding, Weaving, Wet Finishing, Conversion and our Laboratory. In addition to this visit, we also welcomed the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Al Garthwaite, to officially open our new snooker and pool room at the Hainsworth Mill.

AW Hainsworth's brand refresh

As a heritage mill with a proud history spanning decades, we recognized the importance of ensuring our brand reflects how far we’ve come and where we’re headed. That’s why we embarked on a comprehensive brand refresh. As part of this journey, we rebranded from ‘Hainsworth Top Table’ to ‘Hainsworth Cue Sports Fabrics,’ a name that better captures our focus and expertise. We introduced a range of stunning, vibrant new colors to our palette, refined our messaging to authentically convey who we are today, and revitalized our photography to showcase our story in a fresh and modern way.

As mindful manufacturers, we only source wool from farms which we have a long-term relationship with, that practice responsible land management and have respect for animal welfare. We are proud to be one of the first British mills to be awarded the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS).

We are constantly reviewing the packaging we send out and receive from suppliers, and refuse to use non-recyclable or biodegradable packaging unless no alternative is available.

We wind our yarns onto reusable plastic cones instead of disposable ones, which we then enter back into the production process after use.

We proudly achieved Zero to Landfill in 2023, after investing in balers, educating our workforce, and sourcing new waste management partners.

We have started work on building an Engineering Facility. The facility will allow our Engineering team to more efficiently fix machine breakdowns in-house, enhancing their skills and preventing the need to ship parts across the world.
